It doesn't really: Implantation happens on the 6-7th day after fertilization. Your embryo is microscopic and burrows a tiny hole in the uterine lining. If "implantation bleeding" happened, it would be at most a spot or two. Many patients - docs too - call any early pregnancy bleeding "implantation" but its not, thats endometrial bleeding for other causes.
