Possibly: Numbness following a wisdom tooth extraction usually results from damage to the nerve. The fact that you have itching is usually a sign of healing. Nerves take a long time to heal but don't always fully heal. You will probably regain full sensation but sometimes the numbness is permanent. Call the oral surgeon that did the extractions and let him(or her) know about your adverse reaction. Good luck.

Most likely healing: This is very common when you have wisdom teeth removed. It will usually go away, but can take months to totally resolve.

Progressive ...: ... Improvement in the feeling you have, compared to what it was after the local anesthesia had completely worn off, is your indication of healing. For example, if your lip was completely numb the day after surgery but now itchy several days later, that improvement is an indication of the nerve recovering. Your surgeon will explain this in more detail.
