my grandfather was diagnosed stage 4 lung cancer, spread to stomach and adrenal glands. i'd like to know a bit more about what we will be dealing with?

Slow decline: Given your grandfather is in his 80's and given his stage 4 lung cancer, i would strongly recommend that you consider hospice; use of chemotherapy in this situation to extend life by approximately 6 months v the side-effects is not in his best interest. Hospice will give you support as he develops symptoms and slowly declines. Spend quality time with him- it is what you will remember.

Terminal disease: Unfortunately this is an advanced cancer. Treatments will not cure him, but he can be made more comfortable. I am so very sorry.
