just been told that my mucus plugged has started to come out. no blood, but is it a sign of early labor? im 36 weeks and 3 days? should i be worried?

Not really.: Losing your mucous plug can be a sign of early labor. However, many women will have a mucousy discharge towards the end of pregnancy and remain pregnant until full term. If you begin to have regular contractions your OB can always check your cervix to determine if you are in labor.

No worries!: The mucus plug is basically a collection of secretions the body makes to block the cervix and prevent causes of infection to reach inside the uterus and pregnancy. While 'losing your mucus plug' usually occur during the latter stages of pregnancy, it is not necessarily an indication for immediate delivery. Watch for other signs, such as contractions or leaking of fluid, to determine labor.
