are white or metal fillings better?

Neither: Both tooth colored and silver fillings are perfectly safe and effective as long as they are placed properly. The american dental association supports the use of both kinds of filling materials when used properly.

Good question...: Both filling materials can be done well and can last for a long time. The metal fillings are not done as often as they used to be; the white fillings are more desired by the public.
