Surgery: The only effective means of getting rid of bags under the eyes is either to have fillers injected around the bags or to have the bags surgically corrected. See an oculoplastic surgeon who specializes in treating eyelids.

Preparation H: As a conservative measure that you can do at home, you may notice temporary relief by applying preparation h to the area of dark circles. This works by constricting blood vessels under the skin. More permanent measures would require procedures ranging from chemical peels, to laser treatment or even incision surgery.

Several things..: The skin around the eyelid is very thin and prone to swelling and fluid retention. It could be swelling from inflammation (e.g., allergy eye, contact lens overwear), or a salty diet causing an accumulation of fluid while you are asleep. It could also be due to undereye tissue loosening or thyroid issues, so it would be a good idea to get this checked out by an eye md (ophthalmologist).

Dark Circles: Circles under eye can be due to: allergy "allergic shiners", fatigue, genetic variation, aging. Lower lid skin is very thin so blood vessels under skin can make area look dark. Various topical remedies try to help but only mask the condition with no cure. What helps: drink 8 cups water/day, sunblock, hat, enough rest; avoid rubbing; makeup; facial plastic surgery when severe; allergist can help.
