It says in my operative notes that there is no evidence of meniscal tears. then i have an mri and it shows that i have a diplacement of mensical root?

Little complicated: As you can see from this picture, that the menscus have body and root, in this picture the root is torn but the body is not.

True: A tear in a meniscus is not the same as a displaced meniscus. You can have one or the other or both.
