Very good: Majority of 5th metatarsal fractures, even displaced fractures heal fine without surgery.

Metatarsal fracture: Some of these fractures - depending on the location and severity - don't need surgery. Your podiatrist will guide you on this via x rays to follow the healing.

If no: Displacement and if immobilizes then bone should heal without surgery.

5th metatarsal fx have an increased incidence of both delayed and non-union, based on the exact location. With follow up healing shoould be seen on x ray or consider surgery

Depends: From the information provided, it will also depend on your age, sex, ability to heal, nutrition status, compliance to instructions (ex. Staying off your feet/cast), smoking, alcohol, etc. Majority of patients will heal fine in 3-4 months time without surgery. Good luck.
