Tell your OB: You should always tell your doctor about period-like bleeding during pregnancy. He or she may want to do an exam, check your pregnancy hormone levels, and order an ultrasound if timing is appropriate. Best wishes!

Not common: It's not common for women to have period level bleeding when they are pregnant. If it truly is enough bleeding that you're filling up a pad, you should see a doctor because this could be a miscarriage or threatened miscarriage. I hope you're alright, but definitely see a doctor soon.

Possibl implantation: Many causes for bleeding during pregnancy, but all are abnormal, and require investigation. One not too worrisome cause of light bleeding in early pregnancy is termed "implantation bleeding"--a small amount of bleeding that occurs when the embryo implants in the uterus that occurs around the time of an expected period. Bleeding can also herald a miscarriage. See your doctor.
