Psoriasis Homeopathy: The answer, simply, is no.
Dr. Pamela Pappas
Psychiatry 42 years experience
Yes: Yes, they are -- but you need to be evaluated by a well-trained classical homeopath -- it's not just picking up something from the health food store. Here is a study reference: http://www.Ncbi.Nlm.Nih.Gov/pubmed/19192019.
Dr. Joseph Eastern
Dermatology 44 years experience
No.: With all due respect to the non-dermatologist who answered in the affirmative, there is no convincing scientific evidence that homeopathic treatments have any measurable effect on psoriasis, and no plausible theory that explains why they would. Sorry, but those are the facts.
Dr. Pamela Pappas
Psychiatry 42 years experience
It's very true that I'm not a dermatologist, but dermatologists often consult with me regarding patients who aren't getting well with usual treatments alone. I shared the study link in order to provide thoughtful discourse. I enjoy working collaboratively with other physicians for patients' benefit. Here's the link again: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19192019 Best wishes to you.

Natural skin care: The skin is very sensitive, and a good marker for many aspects of health. Any skin condition can suggest imbalance in diet, sleep or how one handles stress. Addressing these issues can help, as can staying hydrated. Specific treatments include topical vitamin d, evening primrose oil (essential fatty acids), and burdock root. Please be aware psoriasis can be more serious than just a skin problem.

Whats a good treatment for psoriasis?

Dr. Ralph Morgan Lewis

Varies on severity: Small patches may respond well to various potencies of steroid cream, vit.D-like drugs, or vit a-derived meds. Larger areas of involvement may require immunosuppressant therapy like Methotrexate or new immune-modulator drugs like infliximab, etanercept, etc. The latter drugs have many side effects and precautions; so you should be under the care of a specialist in those meds.
