Carpal tunnel: A very common cause of nocturnal hand numbess in pregnancy is compromise of the median nerve in the carpal tunnel. This is from the hormonal and fluid shifts in pregnancy. It usually clears after delivery and can be helped with wrist splints. In rare cases decompression at the wrist may be necessary.
