Back pain with cough: You have a muscle strain from coughing. It hurts when you use those accessory muscles to breathe. You have lost your voice because you have a virus that has caused your vocal folds to swell. When the vocal folds swell, they do not meet as well in the midline. There is a leak of air and then your voice sounds hoarse. If you are coughing colored secretions, you need antibiotics. Good luck!
