Ovulation & preg.: Ovulation occurs about midway through your menstrual cycle which is the optimal time to get pregnant. Pregnancy with intercourse just before the period is less likely.

A 51-year-old female asked:
Iam 53 and still have menstrual periods can I get pregnant?

Unlikely !: Pregnancy can still happen but odds are small since you've used most if not all of your fertilizable eggs by now. Ask your doctor to do an fsh blood test. Testing in the menopausal range should bring peace of mind.

A 24-year-old female asked:
Can you get pregnant a week before your menstrual?

Dr. Adam Newman answered

Yes: Because when you have unprotected sex, you don't know when your period will come. And if you happen to have ovulated later than usual, you most certainly can get pregnant.

What is the difference between menstrual and pregnancy cramps?

Same thing,: Menstrual and pregnancy cramps are your body's way of getting things out of the uterus-blood or the baby. Cramps with your period are normal, but cramps during pregnancy should be evaluated by your OB or midwife.

Possibly: Preganacy is always a possiblity. Purchase a home pregnancy test. These become positive at about the time youd start your next expected period. If negative, repeat in 1 week.
