Flat or high arch?: Lataral subtalar joint subluxation is discussed in great detail in one of my favorite podiatry books written by sig hansen jr. It states that this type of deformity is a flat foot type. If that is what you have, then i would recommend weight bearing xrays and possibly orthotics or an AFO if severe.

Subtalar Instability: There are many treatments of lateral subtalar joint instability. You can use bracing and taping to give external support. You can have orthotic devices designed with a high degree of subtalar joint stability. You can be placed on a strengthening program including balancing, progressive resistive exercises, and functional conditioning. You can consider prolotherapy and surgical options. Dr blake.
