Balance benefits: Generally, in any treatment you have to balance risks and benefits. Beta blockers should help your symptoms, as will avoiding (or minimizing) stimulants. Quitting smoking sound like a really good idea--in general, as well as in an effort to help your symptoms. Something to consider...

Do everything you can to quit smoking. Try medication, hypnosis, anything. Find cigarettes with the least amount of nicotine but do try to quit. Be well and talk to your family about your illness and about your tobacco dependence.
