Rib cage: It's rare in a young person, but sometimes people can have some nerve compression in their spine at the level of the rib cage that produces band-like pain around the chest. Both sides can be involved. The other possibility is some early signs of flu or maybe you have been coughing some and the muscles are sore. If it stays uncomfortable for 3-5 days, go see your doctor. Best of luck!

Hard to say: There are multiple potential causes, you should consider being seen. Possible causes can incude an irritation of a nerve in the thoracic spine, an inflammatory condition involving the pancreas or the lining of the lung, and multiple other causes. A detailed exam and appropriate studies can usually sort out the cause. Thank you for the question.

Ink: I have a patient with the same question and it turned out to be ink that rubbed off from some new clothes. See if you can scrub some of it off.

Everyone's different: Some people bruise easier than others. I would not worry about any pathology related to it.

Pain: The swelling from your bruise probably became intense enough to cause some pain. It should go away in time. If it persists or keeps getting worse, then see a health care provider for an evaluation. Best wishes.
