Fairly High Dose: Scleritis is a serious eye disorder and often requires IV medication to control. Nevertheless, that is a fairly high dose of steroid (1 gram of IV solumedrol), which can have numerous significant side effects which should be thoroughly discussed with treating doctor. It is beyond the scope of what can be briefly discussed here.

Scleritis treatment: Often the treatment for scleritis is high dose nsaids if the patient has no contraindications to these medication. However steroids and immunosuppressive therapies are also used. If the issue is just scleritis, the steroid dose is often Prednisone 60-100mg once a day for a week and then tapered from there. If your scleritis is caused from a systemic disease, higher dose steroids my be needed.
