is there an effective way to motivate myself to exercise?

Many ways: Everyone is different. Many people are motivated by social cues: a workout buddy or group. Some people are motivated by rewards such as health goals weight loss, feeling more energy & metabolic changes: better cholesterol & blood sugar. Or the effects on life expectancy & disease prevention which are too many to list. Bottom line you need to make it convenient, a priority & fun[or enjoyable].
