Peppermint oil, for irritable bowel, vs just using the peppermint candy. which is better?

Peppermint Oil: Studies seem to suggest that peppermint oil has roughly equivalent efficacy in managing ibs with less side effects than anticholinergics. I would recommend peppermint oil versus peppermint candy as candy will contain increased sugars and other preservatives that would not be advisable.

Agree w Dr. Turner.: Would recommend oil over candy. Pepperming oil is reported to decrease abdominal pain, gas & bloating when enteric coated. However without enteric coating - it may increase GI symptoms. REF: http://www.webmd.com/a-to-z-guides/peppermint-oil-uses-benefits-effects#1
