Not really: Though mrcp and us are good tests, and can show common bile duct abnormalities, the gold standard is ercp, which is an endoscopic catherization and dye study of the bile duct. Not only is this the best image, albeit more invasive, it is also the method of removing intraductal stones at the same time. Or, if necessary, brushings of ductal tumors can be done. Discuss this in detail with your doctor.
