Possible: Corneal abrasion or a scratch on the surface of the eye or just simple eye dryness. Use eye drops and minor cases resolve on their own, or see an ophthalmologist for an exam and treatment options.

Irritation: Constant feeling of grittiness can be caused by several different things. The most common in our area is allergic conjunctivitis, though there are many causes including infection or autoimmune disease such as sjogren's syndrome. This is likely something that can be treated, so go get it checked out.
