Because daddy had it: This in one of the most common elective procedures performed in the country. It varies within cultures and regions but reaches 80% in parts of the us.It was a common requested elective surgery in my years in the navy among adults. There are some health benefits offered by some as a reason, but mostly it is done on babies because dady had it done.

Personal preference: A few cite easier hygiene, decreased std's over a lifetime, elimination of foreskin cancer, etc. The main factor seems to be personal preference. Daddy wants his boy to look the same. I see occasional uti's primarily in uncircumcised boys, but that is uncommon. Rates vary throughout the world. While in the military it was the most requested elective surgery among shipboard sailors.
