what are the best ways to treat autoimmune diseases?

1 doctor answer
Dr. David Greenfield
40 years experience Rheumatology
Complex question: The term "autoimmune" means, literally, "self immune". These diseases run a wide spectrum and extend to multiple specialities. Rheumatologists deal with connective tissue diseases, gastroenterologists deal with crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, etc..., neurologists deal with multiple sclerosis and others, and even endocrinologists treat thyroiditis and diabetes which can be immune related.
