Not easy. Not fast.: There is no such thing as spot fat loss. You would need to lose weight in general & a certain proportion of that will be abdominal fat. This can be done by eating healthfully, being physically active and making sure that calories burned exceed calories consumed. However you can improve your appearance by toning your abs. To tighten your abdominal muscles consider doing crunches, reverse crunches, .

xercise ball crunches, pelvic thrusts, lying leg raises, side bridge & the “bicycling” exercise on your back. Insure that you are engaging in regular aerobic exercise. 45 minutes a day would be a good goal to shoot for.

Cut the carbs: Belly fat is accumulated when we eat too many carbs. That is why low carb diets immediately result in a decrease in waist measurements, even before weight loss. Carbohydrates are sugars and starches. Fruits are also high in carbs but they have fiber and are certainly more healthy than candy or sugared drinks. Some people can just cut the sugared drinks and start losing belly fat.

Maybe medical issue: When a person gets fat, the fat is stored throughout his body, but more of it is the tummy area. However, if a person says he is thin everywhere else, but fat just in the tummy, there may be a medical problem. A big tummy in a thin person can be due to an abdominal mass, a pregnancy, malnutrition, very weak abdominal muscles, metabolic syndrome, etc... A doctor's evaluation can help figure it out.

Aerobics: Aerobic exercise is paramount to shift your calorie balance into the negative zone (losing more than consuming). Diet is another thing. Eat no later than 6 o'clock. Consume at least 1/2 gallon of water a day if no more. 30 minutes of aerobics. Avoid high calorie foods - eggs, dairy (whole milk), fats. Eat as little sweets and no fast food! belly press exercises may be of some help as well.

Lose weight overall: The "belly fat" is just where the fat goes in your case. Anything you do to lose weight will take away the weight from that area, as well. A low carb diet, particularly the gluten-free diets seem to attack "belly fat" for some reason. Many people tend to skip meals, eat one "meal" per day but then snack on high carb foods all night long. See if any of these patterns apply to you.

What's a good way to fight belly fat?

Dr. Michele Arnold answered

Diet & Exercise: The best way to lose fat is to lose weight. The best way to lose weight is to exercise regularly and maintain a healthy diet. There is no way to selectively 'lose weight' from one body part, unless you choose cosmetic surgery or body sculpting procedures. You can tone your abs, but this alone will not help you lose belly fat.
