can you lose brain cells if you don't sleep enough?

Yes!: Not sleeping enough can involve sleep problems that can be life shortening or life threatening. Not getting enough sleep puts tremedous oxygen desaturation stress on all your major organs, particularly the brain and heart. The only way to know if there are serious problems is with an overnight sleep test. I encourage you to seek help.
