help please! is colon cancer hereditary?

1 doctor answer
Dr. Carlos Encarnacion
34 years experience Medical Oncology
Can be: Most colon cancers relate more to lifestyle than inheritance but some patients do have an inherited predisposition, be it in the setting of multiple polyps (like fap or myh) or not (lynch syndrome). Families with this have early onset colon cancer and other cancers as well. Talk to your doc about this to see if you need to visit a specialist in inherited malignancies. Remember to live healthy.
