most trusted means to heal a strained acl?

RICE therapy & time: Rest ice compression elevation and time should allow for healing of a strained acl. Avoid significant pivoting, twisting, and strenuous activities until symptoms have resolved. Over the counter antiinflammatories can be helpful as well. If swelling, pain , and/or feelings of instability persist beyond 6-8 weeks see a local orthopedic surgeon or sports medicine specialist for a physical exam.
