Some teeth in the: Dental arch have issues with space or position and fail to erupt & remain impacted. When an orthodontist wants to bring a tooth into the arch they will work with an oral surgeon to expose the tooth & attach a bracket to bring it down. Comfortable sedation makes the process easy & pleasant. Quick peek at more details: http://www.Orasurgery.Com/services/orthodontic-bracket-and-chain.Php.

How much detail?: You will be given local anesthesia, the gum reflected, & either the tooth sectioned or some bone removed around the impacted tooth, both or neither & then the tooth or parts of the tooth will be elevated out. Enough detail? Some patient like to know every detail and other say "put me out and do whatever you have to". Speak directly to the surgeon removing your tooth to answer all your ?'s.

Impacted teeth: Depending on the location of the impacted tooth, exposure can be as simple as removing some tissue with a laser and placing an orthodontic bracket , to laying a soft tissue flap, removing bone to uncover the tooth, placing an orthodontic bracket with a chain and stitching the flap back in place and leave the chain hanging down for the orthodontist to tug on the chain to bring the tooth down.

Few Steps: Raise gum flap, remove bone, cut tooth into segments. remove tooth, sutures. For best results with wisdom teeth, make sure you are evaluated and treated by a board certified oral & maxillofacial surgeon.

Discuss with doctor: Everything you should know about this procedure should be fully disclosed to you by the oral surgeon or dentist that is doing the procedure. He/she has the responsibility to help you understand all the ramifications of the procedure. Do not hesitate to discuss this with him/her.
