Daily activities: Make your daily activities more difficult - take the stairs, park further away, bike/ walk to work/ store, sit on a swiss ball/ at your desk and stand up every time you answer the phone, or lunge/ hop/ jump from place to place in your house. Things like these may seem small and silly, but the increased calorie burn can add up over time. Don't forget a healthy diet!

Zero-calorie drinks: Drinking green tea (choose one that contains no sugar and little or no caffeine) can help with weight loss if it is substituting for other drinks that contain calories. Drinking green tea or water before a meal can also fill up the stomach somewhat, and make a person satisfied with a smaller meal. If substituting green tea for non-fat milk, one would need another source for vitamin d and calcium.

Make it last: There is more than one way to loose weight, but in the end you want something that you can sustain over the long hall. Goals: small meals every 3-4 hrs, no skipping meals, make colorful veggies the main part of each meal, use lean meats & protein sources, avoid fast food & soda, greatly limit juice, drink mostly water, eat fish 2-3x/wk, and exercise 5x/wk. I'd start with 1 thing and gradually add another every week or two until you're doing all of them. Also, allow yourself a treat every so often (ie if you like chocolate have a small piece every week & be okay w/ that.).

It's a long process: Losing weight is a long but rewarding process. Start by keeping a food diary and seeing how many calories a day you are normally eating. Then go online, and use a calculator to see the maximum calories you should be eating. All those extra calories = weight. Then start eating less, balanced meal, and start exercising!

Buy very little food: In order to lose weight, a person must use up more calories each day than he takes in. That means he will be hungry, but should only eat a little (not enough to get full). Losing 1-2 lbs a week is a good way to judge if the plan is working. Save money by drinking tap water and buying uncut veggies, whole wheat bread, and little or no sauces. Small fast-food items are ok (whopper jr. Without mayo).

No quick weight loss: Develop your self esteem and lifestyle habits to lose weight as there is no quick fix. Weight watchers, exercise, portion control may be good starting point.
