It's not proven to: What works is reducing caloric intake. Weight loss clinics often tout the weight loss effects of hcg, but what really helps is that they put their clients on a drastically reduced calorie intake. This seems to work great in the short run, but is not sustainable, and all too often the weight comes right back.
