See details: First of all you need to determine the cause of the dry mouth. There are oral lubricants and medications that can help. A cure is less likely.

Depends on the cause: This symptom is very common, and is often seen as a side effect of many types of medication. Dehydration, radiotherapy involving the salivary glands and several diseases can cause change in saliva consistency and hence a complaint of xerostomia (dry mouth). Sometimes there is no identifiable cause...Certainly see your physician asap!

Hydrate: Drink plenty of fluids but avoid caffeinated drinks that may actually dehydrate you . Check with your doctor about medications you take that may dehydrate you . Consider sucking on sugarless losenges if needed. See your doctor if dry mouth persists.

What to do about dry mouth?

Dr. Joseph Rosin answered

Investigate: Many possible causes. Some need medical management. Anxiety and sjogrens syndrome are two causes that come to mind. Symptomatic treatment for your comfort could include artificial saliva or even lemon drop candies. But these should be considered after medical causes are eliminated or better understood. You wouldn't want to mask symptoms of a significant illness that can be treated.

Are you on any meds?: Some medications, especially anti anxiety medications can cause sleep disturbances and vivid dreams along with dry mouth as side affects. If you are on such medications, please address this with your doctor to see if you cn be placed on a different medicine to make you better.
