had a dark spot next to belly button for years. sometimes itches and may be tiny knot underneath. no changes. derm doesn't know. any ideas, serious?

Rash: If you scratch it and it welts up then it could very well be something called a mastocytoma. If you have only seen one dermatologist then i would make an appt with a new one for a new and different opinion.

Second opinion: It never hurts to get a second opinion from another dermatologist when you have a chronic condition.
