Herpes: It is still contagious even after the lesions have healed and they don't look like they are there, although when there are vesicles with fluid in them it is more contagious any kind of skin to skin contact can spread herpes. Asymptomatic people infected with hsv1 or hsv2 can still transmit the virus. The virus replicates on mucocutaneous surfaces and infects sensory nerve terminals and nucl.
