Hard to say: But swelling under the tongue can become very, very dangerous since your tongue can be pushed back and your airway blocked. Please seek medical care immediately.

Seek care now: There are many possibilities and you need to seek immediate attention rather than trying to figure out what it is. This may be a dental or medical problem. If this is your only symptom i would suggest that you see an oral surgeon. If you have any other symptoms, i would see your physician or ENT specialist asap!

Swelling: the first thing that comes to mind is a blocked salivary gland duct. But there are literally dozens of other possibilities. Any swelling requires immediate evaluation. Swelling under the tongue can lead to blokes airway. Please do not delay. Make appointment to see your General Dentist or a specialist Oral Surgeon, and be seen as quickly as possible. Good luck.
