Not likely: Runny nose and cough can be caused by a wide variety of etiologies. Acute etiologies like in a cold or viral infection will heal itself after one or two weeks. Bacterial infection causing rhinosinusitis or bronchitis need antibiotics. Allergic rhinitis causing runny nose and post nasal drip cough needed to be treated for allergies. I can hardly imagine an ancient remedy can cure all of those.
