Yes.: Abdominal distension is a symptom that can be associated with many different diseases including gallbladder disease, (diabetic) gastroparesis, irritable bowel syndrome, (intestinal) cancer, bowel obstructions, just to name a few. In order to find the cause, we need to do a full examination often supplemented with blood tests and x-rays. Although rare, some of these problems can be life-threatening.
