Childhood malaria: First and foremost if you think your toddler has malaria, you need to bring the baby to an emergency room immediately. Symptoms of malaria usually appear 9-14 days after an infected mosquito bite. Initially flu like symptoms (headache, fatigue, painful joints, fever, chills, vomiting and diarrhea. Fever is most common symptom. In children, it can progress rapidly to serious illness or death.
