i hurt my ankle while playing volleyball, six months ago.i got an x-ray and an mri done, but the doctors couldn't findanything wrong. i still get pops and aches. what could bethe reason? what should i do for it?

MRIs not perfect: Although MRI scans are very useful in the diagnosis of many problems, they are not fool proof. And even if most boney problems do not escape visualization, this is not the case for tendon injuries. Linear tears of the peroneal tendons, for instance, are frequently not visualized on an mri. A thorough exam by an experienced clinician may be what is called for here.

More imaging: If you are still having pain after 6 months, i would recommend more imaging such as an MRI to look for problems that would not have showed up on the x-rays at the time of your injury.

If : If you had a MRI already make sure it's read by a muscular skeletal radiologist or ct scan.
