what leads copd to cause people's ankles to swell?

1 doctor answer
Dr. Charles Burger
36 years experience Pulmonology
COPD: COPD reduces the patient's ability to exhale resulting in wheezing and shortness of breath. Recurrent episodes of bronchitis can occur as the disease progresses. Severe COPD can also cause low oxygen levels, heart failure (which can cause ankle swelling) and death.
