How do i know if my cervix has started to dilate early?

Dr. Theodore Hovick Jr
Specializes in Obstetrics and Gynecology
You can't: The only way to determine cervical dilatation is an examination by your obstetrician. If you are having any signs or symptoms of labor, discuss this with your doctor. They might feel it appropriate to check your cervix for changes.
Dr. Diane Minich
Family Medicine 37 years experience
EXAMINATION: The doctor would have to do a pelvic exam and determine if the cervix is dilated.
