A 52-year-old female asked:

should a treating gynecologist know that surgical bilateral oopherectomy and arimidex (anastrozole) would cause severe osteoporosis and when should she monitor it?

That should B on the: Radar screen, but there are not clear guidelines. Depends on when this was performed but oncologists also should follow this and often do. One consideration would be raloxifene. It works on bone and some organs like estrogen, in the breast it blocks estrogen, just like tamoxifen. It may not b a bad option. Good luck, appears on hrt, should help bone, why arimidex (anastrozole)?

A 34-year-old member asked:

Is epivir (lamivudine) safe for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding?

Dr. Katherine Sutherland
Gynecology 43 years experience
Yes: Epivir (lamivudine) has not been studied in pregnant women so the risks are not fully known. In rabbits, it increased the risk of miscarriages, but not birth defects. Talk to your doctor about the reasons you are taking Epivir (lamivudine) and the benefits you are getting from it. Those benefits may outweigh any possible risks to your fetus.

Ankle swollen &deformed after knee replacement she is 200 lb what is the remedy?

Dr. Ronald Galyon

Yes and No: Early in the recovery it is not unusual to have swelling from the knee down into the ankle and foot. With healing proper circulation is reestablished and usually the swelling returns to a more normal state. Ice, elevation, and compression and education may help but if the swelling persist too long more aggressive treatment may be needed. See, your surgeon.

How likely is it for a man to contract chlamydia by receiving oral sex from a woman?

Dr. Wayne Ingram

Mouth to penis CPR?: It is unlikely to transmit chlamydia unless the woman's mouth is already infected. In that case, it could produce a reaction(cpr). The mouth is rife with bacteria as opposed to the "cleaner" vagina, so before one "biblically knows" a partner, it is a great idea to know your partner well and remain monogamous.

How long after breast surgery with implants will I be in pain for?

Dr. Hashim Alani

Pain: Variable; i put the implant under the muscle which may have more pain than under the breast only. Either way it will not be very painful after 2-3 weeks.
