A 32-year-old member asked:

will sleeping on one side of my body reduce nighttime heartburn?

Elevate your head: Because the valve that keeps acid in your stomach is more relaxed, and the enlarging uterus presses on the stomach, you are more prone to reflux. Reflux results from the acid spilling or leaking upward into the esophagus. Gravity can help if you elevate the head of the bed, or even just use an extra pillow to lift your head above your stomach.
Dr. Robert Ryan

Probably not: You may have a hiatal hernia that allows stomach acid to enter the esophagus. Antacids may help with symptoms and sleep. See a physician for a more complete evaluation.

Sleep Apnea: Snoring can be a sign that you have sleep apnea. This will cause you to have periods during sleep when you stop breathing following by a recovery phase after your brain "wakes up". The headaches upon waking up are a sign that you are retaining carbon dioxide. Treatment is available and will allow you to obtain a restful sleep without the headaches.

Obesity can cause the same symptoms. The sleep apnea usually improves with significant weight loss. have your doctor refer you to a pulmonary medicine soecialist for a sleep study immediately and weight loss specialist if necessary.
