UTI THERAPY: Your best bet is always to have the urine tested to see what kind of bug is causing the infection and find out the antibiotic that the bug is most sensitive to. Of cause care must be taken to make sure you are not allergic to that particular antibiotic. Thankfully though most time you will have 2 or more antibiotics that have good activity against the culprit.

By sensitivities: Urine should have had a culture with bacterial sensitivities by micrbiology done, sensitivity testing should indicate choice of a few suitable antibiotics. Nitrofurantoin should not be used, although effective at sterilizing urine does not achieve any tissue levels and thus isn't effective in treating pyelonephritis.

Needs urine culture: Selecting the most appropriate antibiotics requires culture of properly collected urine sample. Pyelonephritis requires longer treatment as well.

Depends.: This usually requires treatment with an antibiotic. If you are having symptoms of burning, pain with urination, increased frequency of urination, you likely have an infection and should seek medical attention for proper treatment. Different antibiotics are used depending on the bacteria causing the infection.

It doesn't matter: It doesn't matter what soap you use. You're probably on antibiotics for the UTI and that will take care of it.

UTI: Sometimes it is possible to 'flush' the UTI with lots of fluids. As well, both Cranberry and Blueberry juice contain elements that interfere with bacterial attachment to the lining of the urinary tract, and may help head off infection. Should you be having fevers, back pain, nausea, vomiting, or feeling otherwise unwell, you should definitely seek treatment from your doctor.
