Diabetes Mellitus: Tested by checking the blood sugar, diabetes mellitus can cause elevations in glucose, in turn causing mental confusion, changes in the lens of the eye, lowered resistance to infection, polydipsia (excessive thirst), polyuria (excessive urination) and vascular changes. Present these findings to a physician, and the first diagnosis to rule out is hyperglycemia, gestational (pregnancy) or otherwise.
