Yes!: Herpes zoster, also known as shingles, is a contagious viral infection. It is a reactivation of the varicella virus that causes chickenpox. You would be contagious to someone who who has never had chickenpox before or has never been vaccinated. You should keep the area covered at all times and wash your hands often. Stay clear of pregnant women, infants and immunocompromised people.
