my serum ferritin is 6.1 ng/ml - is that low? my hair is thinning really fast could that be the cause? tsh anti-tpo normal

Ferritin and hair: It's been found that in women when ferritin is under 50, they tend to shed hair, so 6.1 is definitely low. Please see your doctor about diagnosis for why you may be losing iron and for possible iron supplementation, don't do it yourself. Taking too much iron may be damaging to your liver and other organs. Iron intake should be monitored by a doctor. There are also many iron rich foods.
