Health: Eat healthy foods that are high in calories. Eat six meals per day. Work on strength training to build your large muscle groups. Work out with heavier weights with fewer repetitions. Sleep at least 8 to 9 hours per night. Hydrate well with water. Snacking when you are trying to gain weight>. Nuts are high in calories, contain protein & are high in monosaturated fat (almonds). We all should aim.

for at least 5 servings of vegetables (sweet potatoes) & 4 servings of fruit (bananas) per day. Fruit makes a great snack & this is one time that dried fruits really make sense (prunes & figs). Many people eat more tuna when working to gain weight but you need to watch Mercury content. Try sunflower or flax seeds.

Diet and Muscle Mass: To gain weight you have to consume more calories than you are burning. Do this in a healthy way though. Don't choose junk or fast food. Keep a well balanced diet and make sure you are getting all the nutrients you need. Don't cut out exercise as it is very good for you. The gym: By eating junk food and fatty foods is the worst way to gain weight! not only its unattractive, its also health hazardous! go to the gym and start a moderate weight training exercise program. Increase your lean protein intake, eat good fats (fish oil, flaxseed oil, coconut oil) and eat a low glycemic index diet!

Why?: Why do you want to gain weigh? Being naturally thin is a good thing, especially for an athlete. Even if you are underweight, increasing your weight rapidly is not a good idea. Eat a well balance diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and low in saturated fats. You may wish to add fish and chicken in moderation.

Balanced diet: Though some patients augment their intake with high-calorie drinks (ensure) and bars, a cheaper approach would be to eat more nutrient-rich foods that ones enjoys as part of his/her diet. Consulting with a nutritionist would determine if a diet is balanced. In the meantime, following healthy eating guidelines from the cdc would be helpful http://www.Cdc.Gov/healthyweight/healthy_eating/index.Html.
