What would experts say about actual size of needles (gauge or diameter in mm) used for blood donations?

Usually....: 16 gague. Yes, that makes for a big pinch, but it's quick. And, the more you donate, if the nurse or phlebotomist uses the same location, going through the scar tissue hurts less (because it does not have as much sensation on the surface).
