Lupus: There are quite a few tests that we use to diagnose lupus along with a physical exam. Some of these tests are: antinuclear antibodies (ana), anti-sm, and anti-rnp. Others might be used, but these are some of the main tests.

The RNP has little use in lupus. The major autoantibodies are ANA, DNA and Sm.

See details.: Start with an ana. If that is positive check for dna, ena, ssa and ssb antibodies. If the ANA is negative, i strongly suggest that no other tests be done.
Dr. Tracy Lovell
Rheumatology 21 years experience
There are several: There are several that are looked at including an ana, complement levels, smith antibodies, dsdna and other tests.
