Depends: If your runny nose is from an allergy the actifed may be helpful. Actually as one of the older classes of antihistamines the actifed can even help to dry up a runny nose from a cold. How long you take it depends on whether it is working for you. If it is a cold you'll need it for 7 to 10 days and if it is allergy you may need it longer depending on what the allergan is that you are reacting to.
